Juneau may be the capital, but Anchorage is "the city" in Alaska. The population of Alaska is recorded as 741,894 in 2017. Anchorage includes 298,695 residents making it the epicenter of our commerce, tourism and travel destinations.
The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is small compared to larger cities so navigating it will take minimal time.
When you arrive, there are transportation choices such as courtesy hotel shuttles, taxis, or train. When you are ready to fly to the lodge, you will depart from the same airport.


Hotels in Anchorage
Brace yourself, hotels in Anchorage are expensive in the summer and can often be sold-out during the months of June and July. If you plan to stay in Anchorage during your visit we strongly suggest planning early to ensure reasonable rates. There are a plethora of hotels to choose from and most are located within a 5 to 20-minute drive to the airport.

Restaurants in Anchorage
Anchorage is home to some extraordinary local restaurants and boasts menus to please everyone. Most local restaurants feature fresh catches literally from the waters of the Pacific Ocean. In addition, there is a strong "Eat Local" movement in Alaska in which chefs feature local Alaskan produce as frequently as possible.
Since this is the land of the "Midnight Sun" do not worry if you arrive late into Anchorage.
Most establishments stay open much later during the summer months.

Transportation to The Lodge
On the date of your departure, you will return to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).
Your welcome kit will provide instructions on how to check-in at one of the commercial airlines which will take you to the lodge. Your transportation will be via private charter, PenAir, or Alaska Airlines. If you are flying on a private charter or PenAir, your terminal will be located on level 1 of the ANC airport. The flight from Anchorage to King Salmon is approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes.
